Happy Valentine's To Your Home

Good evening to you. I hope you've had a wonderful week and you're looking forward to the weekend ahead.

I have been working on some really exciting client projects this week, with building work already happening on one or imminently starting on a couple more, so it's been quite a busy time, what with our #MyHomeStyleSeries workshop planning cranked up a notch this week too!

If you would like more information about our first workshop of the year, 'Define Your Interior Style' on Saturday 7th March at Liv's Homeware & Interiors there is a link at the top of this page you can follow.

So blogging has taken a bit of a back seat I'm afraid. There are some really great guest posts in the pipeline that I can't wait to share with you, but while we get those ready I wanted to share a really quick thought with you on this February Friday, that just so happens to be Valentine's Day!

We talk a lot about Gratitude. Being appreciative for the small things in your day that make you smile. Or finding a positive in a not-so-brilliant moment.

If you've read or heard any of Marie Kondo's advice, when it's time to let go of a piece of clothing or other item in your home, we should thank it for the time we've had together and "ceremonially send it on its way towards a better life elsewhere, where it can discover a more appreciative owner".

Well, I had a mini declutter last weekend (which felt amazing by the way, and I now well & truly have the bug - I'm constantly thinking about this drawer or cupboard I can next sort out!) and I didn't quite follow this method exactly but it did make me realise that treating our homes with gratitude and love, is so easily bypassed.

These shelves are next on my list to sort out!

If you consider your body as a temple, and that you should take care of how you treat it - what you eat, how you use it, and what it means to you - then surely our home environment should be viewed in a similar way?

How much 'junk' you bring into your home. How clean & tidy you keep it. The colours and textures you see and feel around you. How much time you spend creating the sanctuary you desire, and that it can absolutely provide for you if you were to prioritise it a little more.

Or let's think about the negative thoughts you have about your home. The pile of washing or the dishwasher that needs emptying. Or that bed that needs changing. Instead of feeling frustrated about what needs doing, perhaps a shift in mindset towards being grateful for having a washing machine or dishwasher to assist you with your everyday chores, or how comfy that bed is after a long day. Or quite simply, how fortunate we are to have a safe place to go with a roof over our heads.

Try decanting your products into some labelled glass bottles?

I know this is all getting a bit deep, but I wonder this weekend, if you do nothing else for Valentine's Day, maybe you could take a moment to think about all the good things about your home and what it gives you. And why not treat it (and yourself!) to a little tidy or spring clean, even if it's just your sock drawer! And let me know if you discover anything (no, not an odd sock! I was thinking more along the lines of a sense of peace or appreciation!).

That's all from me for this week, so I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks so much for reading,

Jess x
