Project: Sunbury, Surrey
Completed: December, 2023
THE BRIEF:
To extend and alter the layout of the ground floor, maintaining the living room, utility and downstairs WC space, but reconfiguring the kitchen, dining and seating area. The client wanted the space to feel fresh, timeless and with a hint of a Dubai luxury hotel mixed with industrial elements.
We needed to create a warm and welcoming space for our client and his sons, incorporating more masculine colours and textures, bringing in softness through the finishing touches.

THE DESIGN:
The client was keen to use a feature tile somewhere to introduce the middle eastern influence, so we created a real wow focal point on the back of the island, and knew that the space could take a darker kitchen, particularly with the very symmetrical layout we'd planned, with no wall units.
The tile choice then influenced the fabric colours, and we kept the furniture and lighting quite masculine and industrial to balance out the more elegant, traditional touches in the panelling and styling.
We also designed a bar area as the client likes to entertain, which utilised the return wall in the kitchen, and includes a wine fridge , wine racks and open shelving.
Because the open plan space at the back of the house is accessed through a wide archway from the living room, we wanted the two areas to feel seamless hence why the same joinery has been used throughout to tie the two rooms together.
We worked on this project from start to finish as the client chose our VIP design package, which meant we could see the whole design through right to the finishing touches. A lot of the client's own artwork and accessories were incorporated into the scheme, but the majority of styling items were purchased and installed on behalf of the client so he could sit back and enjoy his new home.
